This model of learning suggests that both environmental and cognitive factors play a critical role in the acquisition of knowledge. Witrynacan help inform our understanding of the role of social imitation in development (Hobson & Lee, 1999). In the final sections of this paper, I relate the study of social imitation to broader issues in the study of social learning including the origins of human unique forms of culture and cultural differences between groups.
