I am not going into the holiday/holidays/vacation thing because there must already be several threads about it. 'I am on holiday' does not mean in BE that you 'have/have taken the/a day off'. As a side note, it is even more common to say, "I'm going on vacation to Mexico next month," replacing "I will go" with "I'm going."
